I'd also suggest figuring out (BMR/BMI) how many calories a person is eating at their present weight. Then lower than amount by five pounds, and start there. Once you hit that mark, know how many calories per day to reach your next five pound goal and so on. That's what I did (and you eat much healthier when you realize how few calories you get LOL) a few years back.
